Luthando Sithole a.k.a Horus Tha God a.k.a Jonny Joburg is a Johannesburg based rapper and producer who has been performing internationally since the age of 11 (1997 International Children's Festival USA, 1998 All Africa Games closing Ceremony) and is the first South African rapper to debut a music video across America on P. Diddy's Revolt Tv (9 Feb 2015). We are excited that he is joining the Aptitude Family and trusting us with his vision for his music career.
He first started working with Major labels in 2007 as Executive producer and A&R for local rapper F-Eezy's EMI release "Gate Khahlela". After breaking F-eezy into the commercial market he decided to explore his childhood passion for performance by forming the legendary underground electro rap duo Spazashop Boyz which made international strides when they appeared on the popular Brazilian Music Show "Musica Namochila" (2012).
During this time Horus formed his own publishing imprint with Sony-Atv and signed 25 young African artists to his stable in the first year and licensed music to clients such as Red Bull and Endemol. His publishing imprint Renaissance - Rock Recordings formed the back bone of the writing collective that when on to compose the 3rd major label release for Afro-punk pioneer Cama Gwini's Sony Music release "Re-Birth" which was nominated for a 2013 South African Music Award earning Horus his place as a musician who should be taken seriously.
Having established his own publishing imprint, producing for major labels and ending his 5 year relationship as a member of Spazashop Boyz Horus who was still known as Jonny Joburg decided to get back into recording his own music. In August 2014 he released "Mazishe" his first solo single as Jonny Joburg on National radio station Metro Fm and began plotting his ascension in the international rap scene. 3 months after the release of his first solo single Horus set his sights on America and packed his bags for what was supposed to be a 5 day trip to a music conference but ended up being a life changing and career making experience of a life time. As an attendee of the 1st Annual Revolt Music Conference Horus landed in Miami October 2014 with nothing but $80 in his pocket. Being void of any promo material Horus was forced to find another way to make a splash at the heavily attended and star studded conference.
During a panel which was moderated by Epic Records chairman L.A Reid and featuring the likes of Dj Khaled, Craig Hallman (Atlantic C.E.O) and Sycamore (Def Jam A&R Head) to name a few, Horus saw the perfect opportunity to show off his guts and skill by interrupting the discussion and demanding to be allowed to rap in front of the whole panel and entire auditorium of attendees. After receiving a blessing from L.A Reid Horus jumped on stage and the rest as they say is History (in the making). 3 months after landing in America and with the help of P. Diddy mentor Andre Harrell and the current Content Director for Spotify Tuma Basa, Horus shot a music video in Miami for his second solo single as Jonny Joburg called "Michael Jackson" and became the first South African Artist to debut a music video on American Cable Television via P. Diddy's Revolt Tv network. The experience and relationships prompted him to move to Los Angeles California for the remainder of 2015 living in gang neighborhoods and spending his time with local homeless kids, gang members, drug dealers and Skaters whilst sharpening his rap skills on the corner of Hollywood & Highland with young street performers. Upon his return to South Africa in Feb 2016 he had changed his name from Jonny Joburg to Horus Tha God and began working on his debut album Zombies & Aliens with a clear sense of self and a focused plan to become the biggest artist to ever come out of South Africa.
In July 2016 Horus released his first single "Wavve" which was immediately play listed for high rotation on national radio in South Africa followed by the October release of his debut mix tape "SKYGOD MIXTAPE" and the "Wavve" music video which have both received critical acclaim from bloggers and listeners alike.
